Dog Collars
Despite their nickname, dog collars were attractive. Many were made from a dark band of silk or velvet, to which diamonds and pearls would be attached. Colored gemstones were sometimes added, and the finer collars were made from platinum instead of cloth. As a lightweight metal, platinum was ideal for creating large intricate designs that covered much of the neck without being too heavy.
